Trip out of town to discover Bergamo

Two cities within the city, Bergamo Bassa and Bergamo Alta, connected by two funiculars. Domes, towers and palaces embraced by five kilometers of walls, which became Unesco Heritage in July 2017 as the westernmost end of the "Venetian defense works between the 16th and 17th centuries: State from Land-State from Western Sea".

Strolling between gates and mighty bastions, between cultural sites such as the Carrara Academy and sites of artistic interest such as Piazza Vecchia, the "perfect" square also loved by the architect Le Corbusier, you will be transported into a page of history without equal, all to discover. But that's not all, Bergamo is also the home of the composer Gaetano Donizetti to whom the city dedicates a great opera festival every year.
