Historic train
Take a dive into the past on the historic Trenord train to live the unique and exciting experience of a journey back in time along two very touristic railway routes, with ideal destinations for a trip out of town: from MILANO CADORNA station to LAVENO MOMBELLO LAKE, on enchanting Lake Maggiore, or to COMO LAGO, on wonderful Lake Como.
The journey will be enlivened by the presence of characters in period costume which will help to reconstruct the atmosphere of the time, with artistic performances and historical reconstructions. For those who so wish, the option will be there to dress in vintage clothing from 20s and 30s fashion to complete their experience of a journey aboard the Historic Train!
All travelers will be given a FREE booklet on the "Historic Train", which can also be downloaded in digital version from this page.
Back on the rails at last comes a train which, in 2024, celebrates 100 years of history, made up of three first class AZ carriages (130-136-137), built in the two-year period 1924-25 and now completely restored: the wooden interiors, red velvet seats, window curtains and luggage nets immediately transport you back in time.
The train composition is complemented by a Breda-CGE FNM E610-04 electric locomotive (year of construction: 1949) and the OM-CGE FNM E600-03 electric locomotive (year of construction: 1928), also fully restored.
In 2025, 11 tourist trips will run from April to November according to the following schedule:

ENTERTAINMENT ON BOARD THE TRAIN

>> JOURNEYS TO LAVENO MOMBELLO LAGO will feature groups of jazz musicians, ranked among the best on the Italian scene, who will pay homage to the music of the 1920s and 1930, delving into their repertoire of jazz and blues songs, classical pieces and popular songs.
We invite guests to dress up in clothing inspired by the '20s and '30s to complete their experience aboard the historic train!
FREE: all travellers will receive a booklet on the Historic Train and an exclusive vintage ticket.
NEXT TRAIN: SUNDAY, 6 APRIL 2025
On Sunday 6 April, travel to Milano Cadorna or Saronno station by train from anywhere in Lombardy and then travel aboard Trenord's charming HISTORIC TRAIN as it heads for Como Lago!
IMPORTANT: during the stop in Como Lago, from 15.00 to 16.00, before returning to Milano Cadorna, the AZ 130 passenger carriage will remain open and can be visited for free by any enthusiasts who want to stop in at the station, with no need to book.
Outbound times:
- Milano Cadorna: departure at 9.40
- Saronno: arrival at 10.28 – departure at 10.35
- Como Lago: arrival at 11.18
Return times:
- Como Lago: departure at 16.46
- Saronno: arrival at 17.34 – departure at 18.03
- Milano Cadorna: arrival at 18.44
NOTE: the timetable may undergo minor variations, but will still guarantee that all passengers are able to board.

PURCHASE
The ticket can be purchased ONLINE on the Trenord website and can be used only on Sunday, 6 April 2025. The ticket does not need to be validated. The ticket is fully digital, with a dynamic QR code, and you will not be sent your ticket in PDF format. You can find your digital ticket in your account on the trenord.it mobile website or the Trenord App. You can show it directly from your smartphone or tablet to Trenord staff during inspections or to pass through the station gates.
TRAIN
The "A Como con il Treno Storico" train ticket allows a single return trip in second class on ordinary Trenord trains [excluding the Malpensa Express] and on the Historic Train on the Milano Cadorna-Como Lago line.
USE
The ticket can be used by a single person, adult or child, depending on the type of ticket chosen.
For children (ages 4–13), a FREE TICKET can be downloaded as per the normal online purchase procedures on the Trenord website in order to guarantee them a seat. Please note that children cannot travel alone, but must be accompanied by at least one adult during the trip.
For children ages 3 and under, there is no need to download a free ticket; they can travel free of charge, and must be held by an adult who is responsible for them for the entire duration of the journey, without taking up a seat.
Tickets are on sale in limited numbers until 5 April 2025, and once they run out you will no longer be able to travel on the Historic Train.
NB Travellers are invited to read the General Conditions of Travel – Historic Trains.
CHANGES
The travel date on the ticket cannot be changed.
REFUNDS
The ticket is non-refundable.
